Mr Jeff Lancaster

Mr Jeffrey Lancaster MB.ChB.FRCS(ENT).FRCS (OTOL.HNS) was appointed as a consultant Head & Neck surgeon in 2006 at the University Hospital Aintree. Prior to this he attained his medical degree from Liverpool University in 1993 and did all of his post graduate training in the North West of England before entering the specialist registrar for Otolaryngology in 2005.
He has a general head and neck practice encompassing all benign and malignant conditions of the upper aero-digestive tract including thyroid and salivary gland pathologies. He has developed a sub-specialist interest in trans-oral laser resections of head and neck malignancies and is on the faculty of the RCS trans-oral laser surgery course held annually in Liverpool. This allows tumours to be removed through the mouth avoiding the need for complicated open surgical reconstructions and ultimately speeding up patients' recovery time with better long term function.
He has a keen interest in surgical audit focussing on clinical effectiveness. His main research interest centre around laryngectomy patients; both in reducing their post operative complications and improving their long term speech and swallowing function. This has led to the development of the post laryngectomy videofluoroscopic botox clinic for neo-pharyngeal spasm disorders.
He operates solely at UHA but his current catchment area includes not only North Liverpool but also the Isle of Man and South Cheshire.
